Ignite (processor)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ignite processor is a descendant of the SHboom chip. A low-cost-high-speed processor developed by Charles "Chuck" Moore and Russel Fish III with for the first time integrated dynamic memory ( DRAM ) and for the first time a variable clock generator ("Fish-Clock"). 3 processor generations SHBoom → Ignite → Inflame I and II were created. Economically a failure, but the intellectual basis of many later processors from other manufacturers. For this reason licensed by various industry giants such as Intel, AMD, HP and Sony.
