Il Caffè (Eng .: the coffee house ) was an Italian magazine for literature, philosophy and science, which was published from June 1764 to May 1766 in Milan by Pietro Verri . Other employees were u. A. Cesare Beccaria , Alfonso Longo, Pietro Secchi and Verri's brother Alessandro Verri . The magazine represented the ideas of enlightenment and progress and was committed to the promotion of cultural life.

A total of 74 issues were published from the ten-day journal. In order to circumvent the censorship in Lombardy, which was under Austrian rule , it was printed in Brescia , which at that time belonged to the Republic of Venice .
