In front of the monument is an amphitheater, consisting of a round square with various small concrete seats, surrounded by walls with ceramic works of art. This square was designed by the Yugoslav artist Petar Mazev .

About 100 meters west of the memorial is the National Liberation Museum. It was designed in 1989 by the architect Kliment Korobar with the landscape architect Galena Kuculoska for the green areas. Its shape is much more traditional than the Ilinden monument. Inside is a monumental wall painting by the artist Borko Lazeski, who also designed the windows of the Ilinden monument.
