The Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda (German: National Printing House and Mint ) is the state printing and mint of Portugal . It belongs to the Republic of Portugal and is managed by the Portuguese Ministry of Finance. It also operates as a publisher.

history

The Mint (Casa da Moeda) was founded in the late 13th century. In 1972 it was merged with the state printing company (Imprensa Nacional) to form the Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda. Today it produces the coins and banknotes for Portugal. In addition, medals and security prints (ID cards, postage stamps) are produced, which are used and issued by government agencies.
