Pulse recorder

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A pulse recorder is a measuring device from the days of the electromechanical telephone exchange . It is used to determine the switching times of relay contacts , among other things for measuring and setting the number switch of rotary telephones . The pulse recorder records the opening and closing processes of the so-called nsi contact in the pulse dialing process on a paper tape driven at constant speed. Wax or metal paper tapes on which the switching processes were permanently recorded mechanically or electrically were common. The exact times could then be determined with the help of a measuring ruler. Pulse recorders can be viewed as the electromechanical forerunners of the oscilloscope .
