In-your-pagoda forest

The In-Dein Pagoda Forest is a Buddhist cemetery and memorial complex on Inle Lake in Myanmar .

description

The pagoda forest is located west of Inle Lake and is accessible via a canal. The oldest grave stupas in this cemetery date from the 17th century, but new stupas are still being built today. More and more old monuments have now been renovated, and so a colorful mixture of gold, stucco and bare, sometimes overgrown brick has developed.

A very lively souvenir market has established itself in a kilometer-long covered entrance to the pagoda forest. Every five days there is also a market for everyday items; on the days in between this market is held in turn in another village (so-called five-day market).
