In process dressing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Process Dressing ( IPD ) is a grinding process in which the grinding wheel is dressed at certain time intervals without stopping the feed, i.e. during grinding . It is a variant of CD grinding that is characterized by the continuous dressing of the grinding wheel.

The reduction in the radius that occurs during the dressing process must be automatically compensated for by the CNC control . The resulting markings on the workpiece are approximately in the range of 0.01 mm and disappear when the surface is subsequently finished. This method is therefore only suitable for roughing , but contrary to the CD method, the effective roughness of the disc can be optimally adapted to the machining conditions.
