Incisura Scapulae Syndrome

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Incisura-Scapulare syndrome refers to the compression of the suprascapular nerve . When the so-called ligamentum transversum scapulae superius (a ligament on the shoulder blade ( scapula ) above the incisura scapulae ) becomes ossified, a bony canal ( foramen scapulae ) in which the suprascapular nerve runs. This compression, which is intensified by active rotating movements of the shoulder, causes considerable discomfort. A common consequence is decreased strength and atrophy of the infraspinatus and supraspinatus muscles .
