Indo-Uralic languages

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Indo-Ural is a hypothetical family of languages consisting of the Indo-European and Urals, as well as possibly other related languages. The most frequently cited argument for such a relationship is based on apparently common morphological elements such as the pronominal roots * m- (1st person) and * t- (2nd person), or the accusative ending * -m . In addition, other, less obvious matches are suggested, such as the Indo-European plural ending * -s and its Ural counterpart * -t .
