Indonesia Stock Exchange

The Indonesia Stock Exchange ( IDX for short ) is an exchange based in Jakarta , Indonesia . The exchange was formerly known as the Jakarta Stock Exchange but changed in 2007 after it merged with the Surabaya Stock Exchange . December 31, 2007, the Indonesia Stock Exchange was one of 383 listed companies with a market capitalization of 212 billion US dollars . The leading index of the Indonesian stock exchange is the IDX Composite (formerly JSX Composite).

history

The Indonesia Stock Exchange was opened by the Dutch colonial government on December 14, 1912. Due to the First and Second World War, the stock exchange was closed longer. In 1977, President Suharto reopened it. However, little was invested in Indonesian securities between 1977 and 1987. This changed in December 1987 with new regulations. In 2007 the Jakarta Stock Exchange merged with the Surabaya Stock Exchange to form the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The current location of the Indonesian Stock Exchange is in the IDX building in the Sudirman Central Business District.
