The industrial building , built in 1925, was a trade fair building for the Pforzheim jewelry industry, with its striking tower and an important part of the Pforzheim city skyline. In particular because it was almost the only building in Pforzheim's inner city to survive the British bombing raid of February 23, 1945, it was a symbol of hope for the Pforzheimers in the construction years after 1945.

The designs by the architect Karl Schradin were created with the advice of Hermann Billing after a previous competition in 1924. The Pforzheim architect Theo Preckl junior headed the reconstruction after the destruction of the war. in particular the position and shape of the windows facing Leopoldplatz were changed.

In 2003 the listed building was demolished. The rosette ornaments on the tower head, designed by the sculptor Max Kassube (Pforzheim), were recovered during the demolition. A new building reminiscent of the original was erected, which contains the jewelry worlds Pforzheim (adventure world around the topic of jewelry and clocks on 4000 m²) as well as the Pforzheimer Mineral Museum with over 5000 exhibits in the basement. The opening was on June 17, 2005.
