The Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen e. V. (IK) is a federal association of manufacturers of plastic packaging and films in Germany and Europe. It is based in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe . With over 300 member companies (over 90,000 employees) and thus more than 80 percent of the industry, it is the largest association in the European plastic packaging industry. As the supporting association of the Gesamtverband der Kunststoffverarbeitenden Industrie e. V. and member of the European Plastics Converters, the IK is also committed to the interests of the entire plastics processing industry in Germany and Europe.

The board consists of the elected chairmen of the 11 product-oriented specialist groups as well as co-opted company owners or managing directors of IK member companies. It determines the basic lines of the association's policy.

Specialist groups and initiatives

The industry, which is broadly diversified in terms of products and markets, is reflected in the more than 40 association bodies. The association's 22 specialist groups and product-related committees are also of central importance. Here, the experts network with one another, discuss special topics and develop projects and positions.

Seminars are held for its members via its own academy. With the secretarial leadership of four European and international associations, the IK represents the interests of its members and other foreign companies and associations from this sector. New working groups are set up on current topics in order to work with representatives from the industry to develop positions in a timely manner.

Since 2017, the association has also been one of the founders of the Central Packaging Register Foundation (ZSVR) in accordance with Section 24 of the Packaging Act , based in Osnabrück .
