Infinity Blade is an action game with role-playing elements . The game was developed by Chair Entertainment and Epic Games . It has been available in the App Store since December 9, 2010 . It is the first iOS video game to use the Unreal Engine . The player slips into the role of a nameless character and fights in a series of one-on-one duels in a ruined castle until he finally has to face the final boss. In combat, the player can attack or parry by swiping the display and dodging or blocking by tapping. After a victory or a defeat, the game can be restarted as the “successor” of the last character with the same game items and the same experience level.
The game was developed by a team of twelve people. It took two months to the first playable demo version and another three months to complete the game. With Infinity Blade they wanted to demonstrate the new iOS version of the Unreal Engine.
