The engineering consultants for computer science , short form: IT civil technicians , are civil engineers in Austria .

The engineering consultants for computer science are organized in the information technology section of the Chamber of Architects and engineering consultants. The license to become an engineering consultant for computer science can be obtained by graduates of a degree in computer science .

Areas of work in practice are: conception of IT strategies, acceptance tests, creation of requirement specifications, implementation of IT tenders, negotiation with bidders, review of software projects or IT organizations (data centers, software development, etc.), specification and review of Service level agreements (SLAs), certification of software, software trusteeship (deposit of source code), security consulting, planning of security concepts, security audits, security compliance checks, conception and review of e-government applications.
