The Ingenio Constancia Railway is a narrow-gauge railway with a gauge of 762 mm (30 inches ) in Cuba , parts of which are still in use today on the plantation.

Route and superstructure

In 1909, the narrow-gauge railway, which was 68.4 km long, connected the Central Constancia sugar factory with Santa Clara , Castillito , Yaguramas and Horquita . The rails weighed 15 kg / m (30 pounds / yard) per meter .

Rail vehicles

There were nine locomotives in 1909, at least one of which had been delivered before 1898, as well as one passenger car, 18 flat cars and 405 sugar cane cars.

Sugar factory

The sugar factory was built in 1902 near Encrucijada (en) . It had a capacity of 220,000 arrobes (2530 t) of sugar cane per day. It was renamed in 1859 after the revolutionary leader Abel Santamaría and is still in operation.
