In everyday English, the term Ingerland occurs in many areas, for example battle chants by sports fans, descriptions in partnership advertisements and in travel guides.

The word Ingerland became internationally known, for example, as part of the chorus of the song World in Motion by "Englandneworder", the official song for the 1990 World Cup, sung by the English national team and the band New Order, and again at the 1996 European Football Championship in England .
