Inib-sharri

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Inib-Sharri was the daughter of Zimri-Lim , who lived around 1750 BC. Ruled as king in Mari ( Syria ). Inib-Sharri is known from numerous letters that were found during excavations in the palace of Mari. She was the wife of Ibal-Addu , who had been appointed king of Ashlakka by Zimri-Lim . So the marriage was diplomatically motivated. From the letters she sent to her father from her husband's court, we learn that she was not happy with the marriage, and she asked her father if she could come back to Mari. She also reports that her husband Ibal-Addu acted against Zimri-Lim, although he was actually his vassal. In the following years Zimri-Lim conquered Aschlakka and brought his family members home.
