Coney Island, County Sligo ( Irish Inis Uí Mhaolchluiche ; also Coney Iceland , Oileán na gCoiníní called German "Rabbit Island") is an inhabited tidal island ( English tidal Iceland ) near Sligo and beach Hill in County Sligo in Ireland . Coney Island in County Sligo is one of several islands of that name off the coast of Ireland. It is named after the huge number of rabbits that live on the island (Coney / koʊni /, historical / kʌni) is the English word for rabbit; from the Latin "cuniculus".

Inishmulclohy is the largest of the three islands (with Maguins and Oyster Island) off the north coast of the Coolera peninsula with around 400 hectares. The island is 2.4 km long and 0.8 km wide.

The island is accessible from the north by boat from Rosses Point. At low tide it is possible to get to the island from the south (east past Sligo Airport) via the wide Cummeen Beach and the "Coney Island Causeway" (a so-called tidal road ). This 5 km long path is marked with 14 stone pillars.

The island has the smallest fort in the county. It is located in the south, is only 248.2 m² and its walls are 11.8 to 13.3 meters in diameter.
