Incubation
Incubation (lat. Incubare "to lie", "to hatch") has different meanings:
in biology:
- Incubation of z. B. Bird eggs with warmth until young hatch, see brood
- Cultivation of cell cultures or bacterial cultures, for example, in a heating cabinet, see incubator (biology)
- Allowing enzymes, antibodies, etc. to act on a substrate
in the medicine:
- the establishment and multiplication of pathogens in the body ( see also: incubation period )
- raising premature babies in an incubator, see incubator (medicine)
- the temple sleep in antiquity, see Enkoimesis
in psychology:
- Incubation (psychology) , incubation in connection with traumatic experiences or problem solving
- Trauminkubation , a modern dream technique in which an answer or solution to a personal question or problem is incubated by a question before bedtime by a dream.
