Incubation

Incubation (lat. Incubare "to lie", "to hatch") has different meanings:

in biology:

  • Incubation of z. B. Bird eggs with warmth until young hatch, see brood
  • Cultivation of cell cultures or bacterial cultures, for example, in a heating cabinet, see incubator (biology)
  • Allowing enzymes, antibodies, etc. to act on a substrate

in the medicine:
