Innovation with norms and standards

Innovation with norms and standards (INS) is a funding program initiated by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) as a long-term project in the DIN German Institute for Standardization e. V. was initiated in 2006. It is largely controlled by the Presidential Committee for Research, Innovation and Development (SO-FIE) of DIN, which is made up of representatives from business and science. This is shown, among other things, by the fact that SO-FIE is included in the evaluation of received INS project ideas. INS is seen as an important tool for establishing norms and standardization activities in the research and development process in good time. Since INS was initiated, a total of 206 projects and 13 basic scientific studies have been completed. In 2012 there were 40 projects and a basic scientific study.

target

Target of INS is to establish at an early stage scheduled standardization and standardization activities in the research and development process, the optimization of market maturation of highly innovative technologies, more efficient inclusion of hitherto standardization further circles and the awareness of those responsible in business, science and politics.

Selection criteria

For the selection of new projects, the degree of innovation, the benefit for the German economy, the urgency / urgent need for action, the European or international significance and the standardization reference or the standardization-preparatory activity apply.
