Input management

Under Input Management refers to the approach of digital acquisition of business-relevant data ( " Content "), the selection of suitable hardware and software and the connection to subsequent business applications.

Structured or unstructured data from various sources are recorded in input management in order to make them available for further processing in information systems. These can be, for example, systems from the areas of enterprise content management (ECM) or data warehouse , which manage their data acquisition via input management.

The AIIM summarizes components, techniques and procedures for enterprise content management, which are used to capture (see also Capturing under ECM) of content under the term input management. In this environment, content is all business-relevant data that is still upstream of the ECM, such as paper-based documents or correspondence (unstructured content). These still occur in large numbers and with the increasing spread of digital archives and document management systems are digitally recorded and stored as a file. The capturing or input management uses techniques for scanning , imaging , OCR , barcodes , ICR and full-text search . The entire value chain for the provision of digital data from written documents (in the sense of documents that are usually in paper form) is referred to as input management, while the techniques used are combined with capturing.
