Braćevac ( Cyrillic : Браћевац ) is a village in the Opština Negotin and Okrug Bor in eastern Serbia . It is located 23 kilometers south of the town of Negotin .

The village is divided into two districts: Donji Braćevac and Gornji Braćevac .

Braćevac is located on the edge of the Carpathian Mountains , in the northern part of the Timočka Krajina region .

history

The village is first mentioned by name in Turkish writings in 1497, 1521, 1530 and 1586. The Serbian Orthodox Trinity Church was built in the village in 1872.

Until the end of the First World War in 1918, the village was under Bulgarian rule. After that, like the rest of the region, it fell to the Kingdom of Yugoslavia .

After the Second World War , during the Second Yugoslavia in 1949, the cultural cathedral was built and the village was connected to the electricity grid . In 1956 the village received a medical station and in 1981 the roads were paved and Braćevac was connected to the state telephone network.

According to the 2002 census (self-nomination) there were 533 inhabitants. Most of them were Serbian Orthodox . Of which were:

education

Since the village is relatively close to the town of Negotin, there is only one elementary school in the village. This was built in 1952 and was named "Momčilo Ranković" Rajac .
