Srbovo ( Cyrillic : Србово) is a place in the Opština Negotin in the Bor district in Serbia . The population is predominantly Serbian .

geography

Srbovo lies at a height of 48 meters above sea level in the Danube basin in the triangle of Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria . The region around Srbovo borders on the Romanian region of Oltenia . The small community is located in the northeast of Negotin . It is a few kilometers north and east to the Danube. The main source of income in the village is agriculture.

history

Srbovo existed under the name Podgorin before the Ottomans invaded Serbia. After the administrative division of the conquered area within the Ottoman Empire, Wallachians immigrated to the area and the place was henceforth called Srbovlah. At the beginning of the 16th century, Srbovlah had 40 to 50 households. In 1899 the name Srbovo finally prevailed. The chapel ( Hram Vaznesenja Gospodnjeg ) in Srbovo was completed in 1837 and consecrated by the then Eparchen Dositej Negotinski.
