Urovica ( Cyrillic Уровица) is a village in the Negotin Opština in the Bor district in eastern Serbia . The place Urovica consists of the districts Valja Mare, Srbije, Buljevica and Buljevica mika.

History and name

In the 16th century, two villages called Gornja Huhurovica (Upper Huhurovica) and Donja Huhurovica (Lower Huhurovica) existed on the current location of the village of Urovica .

The village is mentioned for the first time as a village under the name of Orovitc on the Temišvarski Banat map . Since 1811 the village was called Urovica, after that, from 1833, the village was called Rovica . It is not known why it was called Urovica again.

Residents

The 2002 census (self-named) showed that 1,191 people live in the village.
