Vratna ( Cyrillic : Вратна ) is a village in Opština Negotin in Okrug Bor in eastern Serbia .

geography

Vratna is located in eastern Serbia on the eastern slope of the Veliki Greben ridge , which belongs to the southwestern foothills of the Carpathian Mountains . The Vratna River , which flows through the town and flows into the Danube about 15 km to the east, also rises there.

Culture

Vratna Monastery

The Vratna Orthodox Monastery ( Manastir Vratna ) is located about forty kilometers from Negotin , near the eponymous village of Vratna. The monastery was built in the 14th century and expanded significantly in 1415. In the monastery itself an inscription overlaid the Wojwoden Sarban of Bucharest. In 1813 it was set on fire and almost completely burned down. The structure was rebuilt in 1817. Today the monastery dedicated to Spasovdan is a women's monastery.
