Radujevac ( Cyrillic : Радујевац) is a village in the Negotin Opština in eastern Serbia .
geography
The place is on the right bank of the Danube , about 15 kilometers from the Romanian and Bulgarian borders.
history
Radujevac is one of the oldest settlements in this area. In Turkish records from 1530, Radujevac is mentioned for the first time with 22 houses. In the vicinity of the village were the villages of Negurice , Prehod and Ivkovce . In the course of the 17th century these four villages grew together. At the beginning of the 18th century the village had 39 houses, and only 13 years later, in 1736, there were 80 houses.
Radujevac is located on the bank of the Danube, as many different types of fish used to be here and people lived from fishing.
The place got its name because of the joy ( Serbian : radost , German : joy) of the residents, as they could sell a lot of fish, because until 100 years ago the small town was the center of fishing in this region.
Residents
The 2002 census (self-denomination) showed that 1540 people live in the small town.
