Samarinovac ( Cyrillic Самариновац) is a village in the Opština Negotin and in the Negotin district and thus in eastern Serbia .
geography
The village is not far from the right bank of the Danube and thus near the border with Romania . It is located near Prahovo (Aquis / Aquae), which under Justinian served as a castello for Roman missions against the Slavs who inhabited areas north of the Danube. The village is not, as has been falsely claimed, on the old Roman road ( Via Romana ) that was to connect the Roman forts on the Limes to Thrace and Dacia .
History and name
The village arose during the Middle Ages . In the 16th century, according to Turkish records, there were three villages where Samarinovac is today: Gornji Sumarinovac , Donji Sumarinovac and Rabdin . The village of Samarinovac emerged from these three villages. In 1936 the Orthodox Trinity Church was consecrated in Samarinovac.
Residents
The 2002 census (self-nomination) showed that 464 people live in Samarinovac.

Most of the inhabitants speak Wallachian, a form of Vulgar Latin and have common linguistic roots with the inhabitants of Istria, the Istro Walachians and the Aromanians. The ethnic origin of the inhabitants cannot be determined without a doubt, it is possibly a mixture of Slavs and the remnants of the Roman population who had settled with the garrisons.
