Veliki Jasenovac ( Serbian Cyrillic : Велики Јасеновац) is a village in eastern Serbia .

Geography and population

The village is located in the Opština Zaječar , in the Okrug Zaječar , in the Timočka Krajina in the east of the country. The place is 241 m above sea level and is not far from the Serbian border with Bulgaria .

The place is on the banks of the Timok and Veliki Potok. Veliki Jasenovac is located 27 km northeast of the center of the municipal capital Zaječar.

The population of the village professes the Serbian Orthodox Church and is of Serbian and Wallachian ethnicity. Veliki Jasenovac has been experiencing a decline in population that has persisted for decades, while at the 2011 census, only 226 people lived in the village, compared with 1,059 in 1948. The village consists of 148 households.
