Institute of Public Policy Studies

The Institute of Public Policy Studies (IPPS, Thai : Thai สถาบัน นโยบาย ศึกษา ) is a non-profit, impartial, non-governmental organization in Thailand that conducts and offers research, advice and training on political issues in the country. The IPPS is supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation .

The IPPS is jointly managed by Chai-Anan Samudavanija and Somsakdi Xuto.

aims

The goals of the IPPS are:

  • Promote participation in democracy and support good governance in the public sector and in society
  • Strengthening the development of parliament and democratic institutions in the country
  • Promotion of political studies for political information and increasing public awareness of important political issues
  • Improving understanding and cooperation between civil servants, parliamentarians, researchers, civil organizations and the public in public debate
  • Promote political awareness and education in general

Projects and activities

Various measures are carried out to achieve the goals

  • Free seminars and training courses with participants from different social areas
  • Research on political reforms, decentralization and regional self-government
  • Publications (see below)
  • multimedia distribution via radio, video and the Internet

Publications

In the 1980s, the IPPS launched the Parliamentary Newsletter , which was replaced in the 1990s by the Political Reform Newsletter , which is aimed at political reforms. The focus is on constitutional developments in politics, administration and legislation.
