Royal Institution of Naval Architects

The The Royal Institution of Naval Architects is a 1860 founded British company that is dedicated to, among others, the shipbuilding research, ship design, shipbuilding, ship operation and ship repair.

The society was founded in 1860 by 18 distinguished people from the field of shipbuilding in London as an Institution of Naval Architects as an association to promote the shipbuilding industry and the professional exchange about it. In 1910 the company was incorporated with a Royal Charter for the first time and is allowed to use the prefix "Royal" in its name.

Over the years of its existence, the RINA has developed a wide range of activities, which includes, among other things, series of lectures, specialist publications, the issuing of reports and the internal exchange of information and data. The members of the society work in over 90 countries around the world.
