Nico Brandenburg

Nico Brandenburg (born November 19, 1970 in Düsseldorf ) is a German jazz musician ( electric bass , double bass ) who is also active in the field of world music .

Brandenburg studied electric bass at the Arnhem University of the Arts from 1993 to 1998 and then completed the jazz double bass course at Folkwang University with John Goldsby .

In 1999/2000 he was the bass player for the music quiz "Do you have tones" ( VOX , 72 broadcasts). Since 2001 he has been working as a freelance musician in Düsseldorf. With the Persian singer Noshaafarin he was on a European tour; he also performed with the Kurdish singer Ciwan Haco . For seven years he was a member of the group of flamenco guitarist Rafael Cortés. He worked with the WDR Big Band Cologne , with Lena Meyer-Landrut (Germany tour), Udo Lindenberg , Bob Mintzer , Axel Fischbacher , Tom Lorenz and Joscho Stephan . Brandenburg currently belongs to the Sebastian Gahler Trio, Luis, the Mathias Höderath Trio, the Tom Gaebel Band and the Düsseldorf jazz ensemble. He is also a member of the band IndigoJazzlounge around Gahler and Inga Lühning , which released the album New Bar Standards on JazzSick in 2014 .

Brandenburg has been teaching double bass / electric bass at the Institute for Music and Media at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf since 2010 .
