Sebastian Gahler (* 1978 ) is a German jazz pianist and composer.

Live and act

Gahler initially had private lessons with the jazz pianist Buddy Casino in Düsseldorf. He then studied jazz piano at the University of the Arts in Arnhem with Robert-Jan Vermeulen and from 2001 to 2007 at the Cologne University of Music with Hans Lüdemann , Hubert Nuss and John Taylor and attended workshops and master classes a.o. a. by Barry Harris , Julian Joseph , Adam Nussbaum and Jacky Terrasson .

With the bassist Nico Brandenburg and the drummer René Marx he founded the Sebastian Gahler Trio in 2003 , whose album Meditation with Gahler's own compositions was released in early 2009 in the Jazz thing Next Generation series on Double Moon . It was presented to the public on January 23, 2009 with a “CD release concert” in Düsseldorf's jazz forge . Three years later, the trio's second album was released by Edel . The trio also works with the saxophonists Claudius Valk and Wolfgang Engstfeld , with whom the third trio CD Down the Street was recently recorded.

Together with the singer Inga Lühning , the Gahler trio forms the IndigoJazzlounge, for which Gahler is writing the arrangements. In this formation he released three albums until 2019, most recently New Bar Standards Volume 2 .

Gahler is also a member of Peter Weiss' jazz ensemble in Düsseldorf . He also works as a keyboardist in the Luis group, which consists of the singer Angela Luis, the guitarist Moritz Stahl , the singer Rachel Scharnberg, the drummer Marcus Möller and Nico Brandenburg.
