Integrated reading and video coding machine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Integrated reading and video (ilvM) is a mail sorting machine from Siemens , which in mail centers of Deutsche Post AG is used. With the ilvM be standardized items, such as letters, POST NEWS (previously unaddressed) and dialogue Post (formerly Infopost) sorted by zip code and delivery area or taken over the task to the sequence sorting machine and shows on delivery sequence order.

construction

The machine consists of the so-called material input, an integrated process module and the compartment wall (so-called sorter). At the material input, the items of mail, which are aligned in the same direction, are placed on a conveyor belt that transports them to the take-off. This separates the input area from the transport area inside the machine. The consignments enter the machine individually at a certain distance by means of transport belts. Depending on the size, shape and condition, around 10 items are collected per second. First, the format of the items is checked and items that are too large are diverted. These shipments go into manual sorting. Then the addresses are machine-read and video-coded. If this is not successful, they are directed to a special compartment in the sorter and re-entered at the substance input.

Manpower

As a rule, two to three people work at the ILVM, depending on the amount of work and the complexity of the shipment volume. One worker feeds the unsorted but already correctly aligned mail items to the machine's material input, while other workers empty the sorter. Since there can be up to 320 compartments depending on the design of the machine and none of these compartments may overflow in order not to endanger the smooth operation, two workers are often employed here. With the help of the ILVM, the workers can sort 45,000 shipments per hour (nominal throughput). The sorted items are collected by the workers in special containers and prepared for further processing on other machines.

Shipment type

The machine is suitable for sorting standard letters, consignments without bulky content, such as keys or the like, direct mail, handouts and postcards. The dimensions of the items to be sorted must be in the following ranges: length: 127–250 mm, height: 85–176 mm, thickness: 0.15–7 mm, weight: 2–100 g.
