Intel International Science and Engineering Fair

The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) is the largest pre-university research competition in the world. Intel has been the eponymous sponsor since 1997 .

The organizer is the Society for Science & the Public (SSP), a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC The SSP founded the ISEF in 1950.

The competition has been international since 1958, when Canada , Japan and the Federal Republic of Germany took part. It takes place annually in May. The more than 1,500 participating students are determined in national and regional competitions. The German-speaking area is represented by Jugend forscht in Germany and Jugend innovativ in Austria, while almost every state in the United States is represented several times. On the occasion of the ISEF, several hundred prizes ranging from a few hundred to several tens of thousands of US dollars are donated and awarded.

The SSP has been organizing the Science Talent Search (STS) since 1942 , before Intel with Westinghouse as a sponsor. Seven STS finalists later received the Nobel Prize .
