Course of the interconnector pipeline between Great Britain and Belgium

Interconnector is a natural gas pipeline connection between Great Britain and the European continent. The operator is Interconnector (UK) Ltd. in Great Britain.

This natural gas pipeline runs between Bacton on the British coast and Zeebrugge in Belgium. In operation since October 1998, a connection was established between the British gas transport system and the continental European pipeline system for the first time. The gas delivered via the interconnector is traded on the Zeebrugge Hub .

The interconnector has a length of 235 km and a diameter of 40  inches (around 100 cm). Up to 20 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year can be transported through this pipeline from Great Britain to Belgium, 8.5 billion cubic meters per year in the opposite direction. Four natural gas compressors with an output of 28 megawatts each  generate a pressure of 140 bar.
