The Berlin International Short Film Festival, founded in 1982 as the Super 8 Film Festival in Berlin-Kreuzberg , is the third oldest international film festival in Berlin after the Berlinale and the Eulenspiegeleien.

Every year over 7000 films up to 20 minutes are submitted, of which around 500 works are summarized in thematic programs. In addition to the international and German competitions, documentaries and children's films are also awarded prizes. The films are booked by cinemas, TV stations, cultural institutions and internet platforms. The area of ​​DVD distribution and demonstrations in public spaces has been developing rapidly for some time - be it in subways, waiting rooms or in mobile entertainment. In this area interfilm can fall back on a large stock of ultra-short films.

Other Projects

Together with Berliner Fenster , interfilm is co-organizer of the annual U-Bahn short film festival Going Underground and partner of the “Zebra Poetry Film Festival”. In cooperation with Siemens , interfilm organized the “MicroMovie AWARD”, the world's first competition for short films made with mobile phones. Since 2008 interfilm has been organizing a competition for viral videos with the “Viral Video Award” as the first film festival in Germany . With regular program series such as B. “Shorts Attack” is an integral part of interfilm's cultural calendar.

Short film programs and festival highlights are also presented worldwide. In 2004 alone, interfilm Berlin was present in countries such as Australia , Bosnia , Croatia , Latvia , Mexico , Poland , Portugal , South Korea , Thailand , the USA and Belarus .
