Intercultural Theology. Zeitschrift für Missionswissenschaft (ZMiss) is a mission science journal that is published on behalf of the German Society for Missions Science (DGMW) and the Basel Mission and appears quarterly.

history

ZMiss is a continuation of the Evangelisches Missions-Magazin (since 1816) and the Evangelische Missions-Zeitschrift (since 1940 in continuation of the (New) Allgemeine Missionszeitschrift, which was banned in 1938, with an interruption from mid-1944 to 1948). The AMZ was founded by Gustav Warneck in 1874 and continued as NAMZ from 1924 by Martin Schlunk and Julius Richter . The magazine appeared from 1975 to 2007 under the name "Zeitschrift für Mission" and since 2008 under its current name. The current year count starts in 1975.

Objective and task

The ZMiss concerned as German-language academic journal in the Protestant area with the topics of intercultural theology, missiology , mission theology as well as experiences and problems of missionary practice. The journal brings articles and analyzes on mission history topics, reports ethnological, religious and cultural studies research results and participates in the scientific discussion regarding interreligious and intercultural dialogues . The magazine provides information about current developments, events and new publications in various sections.

Design of the issues and frequency of publication

Each year has four issues, two of which can be combined into a double issue. A special issue per year contains articles that have been commissioned by the editorial staff. Another issue can be the publication of the contributions of a conference, z. B. an annual meeting of the DGMW. Unsolicited manuscripts will be published in the remaining booklets. Published articles have each been subjected to a peer review process.
