The Intermusica is an international competition for brass music soloists under 30 years of age, which takes place in Birkfeld .

The aim of Intermusica is to promote young talent. This event is one of the most highly endowed music competitions for brass music in Europe. Intermusica is organized by the market town of Birkfeld , the Styrian Wind Music Association of Styria , the Hutter family and the Graf Tacoli family. All competitions take place in and around Birkfeld in front of an audience.

The final event is at Birkenstein Castle and is the highlight of this one-week competition. The participants, who come from several countries, are free to come alone or bring their orchestras with them. Up to 1,300 wind musicians will be guests in the region around Birkfeld during Intermusica.

The Golden Jackdaw trophy is awarded as an award by Count Alexander Tacoli, who also donates this prize himself and is designed based on the family coat of arms of the Tacoli family.
