International African Institute

The International African Institute (" IAI ") was founded in London in 1926 (as the International Institute of African Languages ​​and Cultures ) for the study of African languages . Diedrich Hermann Westermann was director from 1926 (with the French Henri Labouret ) until 1939.

The IAI has published the quarterly magazine Africa since 1928 .

The task of the IAI is to "promote the education of the public in the study of Africa and its languages ​​and cultures". Its operations include seminars, journals, monographs, compilations, and stimulating research in Africa.
