International Association for the Study of Obesity
The International Association for the Study of Obesity (IASO) (German: "International Association for Research into Obesity") is an international umbrella organization for national organizations on the subject of overweight and obesity . The IASO has 51 members from 55 countries.
Members in the German-speaking area:
- Germany: German Obesity Society
- Austria: Austrian Obesity Association
- Switzerland: Swiss Association for the Study of Obesity
In 2002 the IASO and the "International Obesity TaskForce (IOTF)" merged to act as a powerful organization against the obesity epidemic globally.
