The International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO) is an international association of tanker owners.

Intertanko has its roots in the predecessor organization International Tanker Owners' Association, which existed in London from 1934 to 1967 and was founded on October 21, 1970 in Oslo . Members of the association are owners and operators of oil and chemical tankers who are independent of the oil companies and are not controlled by the state . They control the vast majority of the world's tanker fleet. In January 2013, the 219 full members owned 3,259 tankers with a total deadweight of 284 million tons. In addition, Intertanko has 320 extraordinary members from the shipping sector (e.g. classification societies ).
