International Masters (ring tennis) 2004
The 2nd International Masters in ring tennis took place on April 3, 2004 in Durban in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal . The occasion for this tournament was the South Africa tour of the German national ring tennis team from April 2nd to 25th. The 4 best players from both countries were allowed to compete in the tournament; the schedule was determined by means of a seeding list. The game was played - very unusual - in the parking lot of a restaurant with a lot of public traffic. In the women’s category, the South Africans were clearly superior and so the experienced Melanie Grieb, who had already defeated the German No. 1 Sabrina Westphal in the semi-finals, won the final against her young teammate Michelle Kokott. In the men's final, Reinhard Plog, the winner of the International Masters 2002, and the South African Gerrie Craig, who received the trophy after a year injury break and an excellent performance, faced each other.
