International Policy Institute for Counter-Terrorism

The International Policy Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) (German: International Politisches Anti-Terror-Institut ) is a think tank for combating terrorism founded in 1996 in Herzliya , Israel .

The aim of the institute is to “ sensitize the international public as well as decision-makers from governments, the media and political science to political, social and economic decisions with regard to global terrorism ”. In addition, “the motivation and causes of terrorist attacks are examined and counter-strategies developed” and current events, such as the terrorist attack in Dahab on April 24, 2006, are analyzed directly.

The director is Shabtai Shavit , former director of the Mossad . In accordance with the objectives, the Board of Directors consists mainly of political scientists, media representatives and members of the military. The institute employs around 40 researchers and the same number of lecturers, the majority of whom are also from various Israeli military services.
