The International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) is the world association of

Powerlifting and was founded in 1973 in the USA . The European Powerlifting Federation was established as a sub-organization in 1978 .

In 1980 the IPF was a founding member of the International World Games Association . In 1981 the first World Games with IPF participation took place.
