International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology

The International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR) was founded in 1959 under the name International Union of Pharmacology as a section of the International Union of Physiological Sciences and was independent in 1965; the name was changed in 2006. It is a non-profit, scientific society that represents the interests of researchers in pharmacological fields and promotes global collaboration for better drugs. In 1961 the first world congress took place in Stockholm .
