International and European Public Services Organization

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International and European Public Services Organization (IPSO) is a trade union for employees of international organizations or EU bodies that have a seat in Germany.

organization

The German name of this union is "Organization of the employees in European and international public institutions in the Federal Republic of Germany". The seat of this organization is in Frankfurt am Main.

Because of the immunities and other privileges enjoyed by international or European organizations in Germany, the employment relationships of the employees of these organizations are generally not subject to German law, even if the workplace is in Germany, so that it was more expedient to found your own union than to be represented by the previous unions, e.g. B. through the United Service Union ver.di.

Although membership in the IPSO is open to employees of all international or European organizations in Germany, it is of particular importance for the employees of the European Central Bank (ECB), because the IPSO represents around 35% of the workforce there.

Labor dispute

On June 3rd, 2009 the IPSO organized the first strike in the history of the European Central Bank. According to the IPSO, around 400 of the approximately 1,150 permanent employees of the ECB took part in a 90-minute warning strike. This did not result in any significant impairment of the ECB.
