International Society for Philosophical Practice
The International Society for Philosophical Practice (IGPP) is a specialist society in the legal form of a registered association ( eV ).
Foundation and tasks
The International Society for Philosophical Practice was founded in 1982 by Gerd B. Achenbach under the name Society for Philosophical Practice . In 1998 it was renamed "IGPP". The association's goals are exclusively non-profit . Gerd B. Achenbach was chairman until 2003. The current 1st chairman is Ute Gahlings, 2nd chairman Heidemarie Bennent-Vahle, treasurer and head of the office is Roger Wisniewski. The office is based in Berlin. Other board members are Cornelia Bruell, Jirko Krauss and Kai Kranner.
The International Society for Philosophical Practice understands philosophical practice as the common reflection on experiences of human existence. The members share an interest in the scientific and practical development of philosophical practice. The aim of the professional association is the dissemination of philosophical practice through events, publications and public relations.
In 2009 the professional association for philosophical practice "BV-PP" was founded out of the IGPP. The professional association strives to professionalize philosophical practice as a consulting profession.
