The International Johannes Brahms Competition (“Brahms Competition”) is an international competition that has been held annually since 1993 in Pörtschach am Wörther See in Austria, where Brahms occasionally stayed in the summer.

In the piano, violin, cello, viola, vocal and chamber music categories, the competitors are obliged to perform works by Johannes Brahms either in the preliminary or final round.

Previous winners in the cello category include István Várdai (1st prize in 2006, Hungary), Yuki Ito (1st prize in 2010, Japan) and Gabriel Schwabe (2nd prize in 2005, Germany).
