International film weekend in Würzburg

The Würzburg International Film Weekend takes place every year at the end of January in Würzburg .

It has existed since 1974. Up to and including 2010, it took place annually at the end of January, before the 37th film weekend in 2011 this date was moved to 14 days before Easter, but returned to January for the 40th birthday in 2014. The film weekend has been taking place in the Bürgerbräu cultural center on the northern outskirts of the city since 2017, which has not reduced the number of viewers (9,000 visitors). Audience awards are given in the categories of feature film , documentary film , short film , and children's and youth films . The film festival is organized exclusively on a voluntary basis. With around 14,000 tickets sold, it is one of the medium-sized German film festivals.
