The Eelde International Clog Museum in Eelde ( Netherlands ) is a museum for clogs , clog-making tools and clog machines. It has the largest collection of wooden footwear in the world.

history

The foundation stone of the collection was laid by the brothers Eiso (1916–1977) and Egbert Wietzes (1925–1988), the last clog maker in Eelde. After her death, the collection was filled with the collection from HP Bongers from Enschede , who was a teacher at a technical school there. In addition to wooden shoes, his collection consisted of Western European craft and (pre) mechanical wooden shoe tools. In 1990 the museum was opened. In 2009 the museum acquired a large collection of French wooden shoes.
